Hello! I’m so glad you found your way here! This is written to help those of you that have been wondering if you should elope in Wyoming. (Or more specifically, you were wondering if you should elope in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.) I’m here not to sway your decision, but to give you some reasons why eloping in Wyoming might be exactly what you’ve always wanted! This will be such an important moment for the two of you! Because of this, it’s imperative that you are sure in your heart of hearts it’s where you see yourself vowing forever to each other. And with so many beautiful places on this amazing earth it can be difficult to decide!

This is where it’s important to do your research on the locations that you have considered and also keep your mind open to new findings along the way. Make a list of the pros and cons of each location that are personal to you and your significant other and decide when you have all the information.

Reason Number 1 to Elope in Jackson Hole Wyoming is the Stunning Mountains and Wildlife!

It’s one of those places where everywhere you turn, it will be a stunning view. You will see picturesque mountains all around, no matter where you look, there they will be. A whooping 97 percent of Teton County is public federally-owned land such as beautiful national parks and national forests. At any time of day the mountains are a sight to behold. During sunrise, they are painted the most spectacular shades of pink and gold by the sun. Midday gives you the clearest view of the mountain backdrop, with the peaks dusted in white for our eyes to marvel at. Sunsets are beautiful everywhere, but surrounded by the mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming? The beauty of the sunset is otherworldly. The mountains are even beautiful at night. If you want to feel small compared to the grandiosity of your surroundings, this might be the place for you to elope.

The wildlife is spectacular too.

There is a wide variety of wildlife in this corner of the world. You might see bison, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, black bears, gray wolves, bald eagles, and so much more. So, if this is a big motivator for you, I have a few things for you to keep in mind!

Time of year.

You are likely to run into wildlife at any time of year in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. But your best bet is early spring because of the smaller crowds! When summer starts, the crowds get bigger at Jackson Hole. Because of this, the animals start to move further into the mountains to avoid the people. Another great time of year for wildlife viewing is winter because most animals move over to lower ground. And during fall, the migration of the elks begins and are visible during winter.

Time of day.

As far as time of day goes, early in the morning or early evenings are the best times to view wildlife in Jackson Hole because they will be more active at those times.

As amazing as it is to see wildlife in its natural habitat, you must prepare to stay safe in these situations! Don’t approach the wildlife even if they appear docile, you’ll startle them and they might charge and hurt or kill you! Instead, keep a safe distance and be respectful of their home. And make sure to come prepared with items such as bear spray or a bear bell to help keep a safe distance.

Wildflowers.

There is such a beautiful mixture of wildflowers in the Jackson Hole area! They usually bloom May through September and since growing season is short, the dominant blooming flowers change quickly from week to week. It is one of my favorite sights in the world, especially Purple Fireweed!

Reason Number 2 to Elope in Jackson Hole Wyoming is the Variety of Activities.

There is so much to do depending on what you like and your level of adventurousness. If you are outdoorsy there are so many options for you! You can plan to go hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, or swimming if it’s summer time.

If you go during the winter months and you aren’t scared of being cold, skiing and snowshoeing would be perfect. Or if that’s not really your speed you can always relax, go shopping or go driving on beautiful scenic roads. There is no shortage of things to do or see.

This is great for those couples that have extra time to explore before or after their elopement. There are so many wonderful resources to help plan your days out full of fun adventures while in Wyoming! I recommend you research things to do in your surroundings or ask your elopement vendors!

Reason Number 3 to Elope in Jackson Hole Wyoming is That it’s a Great Town to Visit With So Much To Do!

The surrounding town are full of so many fun activities! Jackson town square is a must see if you have the time. A great starting point is the famous elk antler arches on each corner of the Town Square. Or if you go in the winter, try gliding around on the tiny ice-skating rink!

If you’re looking for some amazing restaurants check online or ask a local! (Asking a local is my personal favorite because they know all the best spots.) And for help finding one of the many beautiful lodges or ranches check out the Jackson Hole Chamber or maybe Airbnb if that’s more your speed!

It’s one of those towns that whether you come into it with a planned itinerary or you just want to have a spontaneous amazing time, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.

Reason Number 4 is That the Temperature is Ideal for Weddings!

Jackson Hole is so beautiful year round! But my personal favorites are summer and fall and I’ll tell you why.

Summer season in Jackson is short but its a beautiful time to get married out in nature. Summer is typically June through August, not only will the beautiful wildflowers be all around but you will also see snow on the mountain peaks. The weather is nice and warm during the day, with lovely cooler nights and although this is the busiest time of the year in Grand Teton National Park it’s still easy to sneak away from the crowds to find beautifully secluded spots.

My next favorite time of the year is the fall season, September to October is so beautiful as well. The weather starts to cool down and the fall colors start to make their much awaited appearance in early September. There is also less crowds which is amazing because it’s much more intimate and peaceful for elopements! By late September to early October you will probably have some snow! Which brings me to the next season…

Winter! This time of year is absolutely gorgeous, that cannot be denied! But if you want to have your elopement outside this time of year, you have to be tough to brave the cold weather! It’s beautiful but understandably not for everyone. Plus there is so many fun activities in the area in the winter, even if you’re not a skier!

This leaves spring! It is still pretty muddy around this time of year and it and can be really cold out. But if spring is your dream time, there are some locations that are accessible during spring.

One Last Thing To Keep In Mind!

You will also need a permit to get married in the Grand Teton National Park! (Click here to go right to the website to request it.)

That’s it my friends! If you want to see an example of a beautiful elopement surrounded by the Grand Teton Mountains, check out Elizabeth and Juan’s elopement.
