Lots of fun things go into planing and preparing for your elopement and extra help getting the planning done never hurts! In other words, sharing is caring and as an elopement photographer who cares I have seen and learned what is truly important for your adventurous elopement planning, as well as what doesn’t really transfer from a traditional wedding. As a result, I wanted to help those that need some extra resources to plan their day, because of this, I put together a list of things that happen to get overlooked! First on this list is your hiking elopement shoes, so let’s talk about it!
I can get on board for fashion over comfort for a traditional wedding, but for your elopement… No Way!
Plus, you’re already “breaking all the rules” by eloping so what’s one more?
Wear whatever shoes you want to wear!
Here are my thoughts on what to consider when deciding what shoes to wear on your hiking elopement:
First, consider the distance of the hike or the amount of time out in nature. The longer the trek is, the more comfort is important, because of this, it’s always best to be as prepared as possible since we can’t just leave to get better shoes real quick.
Second, think of where (and when) you’re hiking and traveling. Is there any chance of rain, snow or ice? Are there scrabbly rocks on the trail? Is it muddy out or is it rainy season? When you pick out your shoes remember that more traction, support and water resistance is always best!
Third on this list, are you a naturally cold person? If that sounds like you then think ahead and bring extra socks! Do you need help closing the right kind? I got you.
Lastly, how important is the stylish factor for you? If this is high on your list consider bringing spare shoes with you or wearing the cute shoes for certain times in the day or for certain pictures!
Dress for the weather and then some… it’s better to be over prepared than miserable being under prepared.
