4 Essentials to Pack for Your Hiking Elopement

January 21, 2019

Packing is never fun! I don’t know about you, but I always seem to leave something important behind. Packing for your hiking elopement is even harder because if you forget something we can’t just go to the corner store to replace it! So I like to over prepare for these amazing days.

No matter the length of the trail there are a few essential things to remember when packing for your hiking elopement day to stay happy and comfortable.

Packing for your hiking elopement 101:

Pack Up Some Snakssss For Your Hike.

No one wants to be hangry on their special day. So no matter the time of day you want to go on your adventure… eat before you go (even if it’s small) AND bring snacks. Preferably your favorite snacks because why not, it’s your wedding day!  And another idea, what about a picnic?

OR!  if you love coffee (or tea or hot chocolate) why not make that fresh on the trail and enjoy the scenery or take a little rest from whatever you are doing.  OR AGAIN!  Why not bring some beverages of the adult variety to celebrate your day! What ever your favorite snacks are just make sure to add those in when you’re packing for your hiking elopement!

Packing For Your Hiking Elopement Calls For Layers.

The fastest way to make an adventure go from wonderful to horrible is if you are cold or wet or both. Bring a backpack and bring a spare sweater or jacket, a pair of leggings (nude is great for dresses) or thermal underwear for under pants, and a hat, gloves and pair of socks.

How cute would it look if you both were bundled up for your pictures all cute and happy because you are toasty warm! Also! If there is any chance of rain, bring a rain jacket or poncho. Like my mom always said if you are prepared it won’t rain and if you aren’t it will rain. Either way, you will be happy you are prepared!

Remember To Pack Proper Footwear For Your Hike.

This is my favorite. I love when couples wear their hiking boots and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty, but more important is comfort and safety. Whether you are planning a short walk, or an arduous hike, when your feet hurt it’s hard to have fun.

And if you are cautious to walk because of mud or struggling for traction on wet rocks or don’t have micro spikes for that unexpected ice at high altitudes, it’s hard to be confident, comfortable and enjoy the adventure.

So if you are buying new or deciding on some options you already have… choose shoes with traction, support and some water resistance if needed AND comfort (which means break those bad boys in before your wedding day), then maybe, just maybe think about the cuteness factor.

But, how badass are hiking boots with socks with your dress or suit? AND! Not being able to worry less about blisters and rubs and more about love!

The Most Important Thing When Packing For Your Hiking Elopement Is To Bring Your Carefree Attitude (because you are prepared!)

It’s your special day, plan your couple big fun activities and let the rest be what it may. Explore a secret canyon or trail you find, drink some more of that delicious morning coffee. How amazing does it sound to relax by the fire for a little longer or eat another piece of cake.

It’s your day, do what you (the couple) want and think feels right even if it isn’t planned or expected. That’s where the magic happens!

Packing for your hiking elopement doesn’t need to be overwhelming. I am here to help and remind you of all of the things you need!
