I might say this often, but this session was one for the books! (Or technically speaking, the blog.) Nicole and Michael had a Yosemite National Park Elopement. And I was honored to capture the moment for them while getting to know this lovely couple! They were so intentional with every little moment of their day. Everything had so much thought behind it and it truly felt like I was just spending the day with two good friends!
We met up the morning of their Yosemite National Park elopement (or anniversary vow renewal) at the beautiful Tenaya lodge.
They got ready, and then we took the sweetest first look photos behind the lodge, where they exchanged gifts and kisses. You see, they had gotten married a year before. It was a big traditional wedding, which they loved, but they wanted something that spoke to their adventurous spirits! So they decided to celebrate their first anniversary as a married couple by renewing their vows in Yosemite. Because of this we coined it their “relopement” day.
It was so magical, they said their vows in the Yosemite National Park Valley. After some heartfelt words we moved on to their picnic! And it was delicious! We had a beautiful charcuterie board and a one tier cake to fuel us up so we could continue on taking pictures.
The day was definitely more about the adventure than the destination, so we took pit stops along the way.
We just had such a fun time running and laughing around the park together. And in those pit stops, we found beautiful locations and discovered corners of Yosemite National Park that were new to us. All while documenting their love for each other.
No adventure elopement is ever truly complete without sunset photos! Being bathed in the golden light as the sun leaves us for the day is one of the most romantic sights, especially in such a grand location for a special occasion.
The only thing I might love more than a beautiful sunset is a night sky filled to the brim with stars.
We made our way to Half Dome so we could truly appreciate the beauty, and it definitely delivered. While we enjoyed the starry night, Nicole and Michael read post cards their loved ones sent them by the light of the lanterns for their anniversary. Perfect end to the perfect “relopement” day in Yosemite.
This day was so special to all of us because of the details and intention behind the day. They wanted this day for them. From the things they wore, to the gifts they gave each other, to the vendors that they choose, to the picnic they made for themselves.
It was important to them that they honored their wedding while celebrating the new day. And they did that so perfectly.
